23 Monarch's at South Llano River State Park in Junction, Texas, 10 more in town where FM 2169 crosses South Llano River (Flatrock Road Crossing or road to Texas Tech University campus. These 10 in a 50 yard stretch of Cowpen Daisy along road. Those at the State Park cruising low around the Frostweed. Strong south wind this morning such that some of the Monarch's on the ground. All flowering plants very stressed as no rain at State Park since September 7.The one close-up photo atypical as most of Frostweed with flower clusters turning brown. 23 is accurate count in about a 2.5 mile hike through the best habitat along and through the pecan bottom with acres of Frostweed. Other species observed included: Queen, Gulf and Variegated Fritillary, Sleepy Orange, Dainty Sulphur, Common Buckeye,Pipevine Swallowtail, Bordered Patch and couple larger Sulphur's not seen well enough to id.
