Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/19/2025

Number: 3

It is Sunday morning and I am excited to report that I believe that the three monarchs that were here until sunset , actually roosted in my garden .

This morning, around 9:30 a.m. , I watched three monarchs on the butterfly bushes and wild ageratum.

When my husband went outside to get a closer look , he found a Praying Mantis eating a monarch even though I had only observed three and three were still in this feeding space. So , there must have been four at some point. I am sad that the Mantis took the opportunity to snatch the Monarch , one that was on its way home to Mexico.

My husband removed the Mantis to another location of the garden.

The three monarchs continued to feed . I last observed them in mid afternoon, prior to a cold front that was moving into our area.
