Last on of the season.Of 18 chrysalises this month,2 males eclosed. Most had been used as hosts-always saw wasps and yellow jackets out there.I covered the caterpillars/plants when I saw them but who knows when they were attacked. In 18 yrs this was my second best yr eclosing 100 females and 109 males.July was stinking hot and I spent all summer in a boot for a Foot Fx.This yr was truly a labor of love. The 4 caterpillars I found this month,I euthanized today. They are not growing and the temps have turned cool.Doubt they would make it to a chrysalis, with the slow progression-it would be Nov.if successful and that is way too late.Guessing they were used as hosts too as there are flowers on the Tropical Milkweed and still seeing yellow jackets trolling.
