Today dozens of more Monarchs arrived from the north and east beginning about 11:00am. About 4 at a time would cruise around surveying where to land. They would then nectar on Gregg's Blue Mist with the Queens or they would hang out on a Mexican Sunflower. Then they would go find a tree to rest in. Then more would arrive. This photo shows a tagged Monarch resting on a cottonwood branch of dead leaves. There are 4 other Monarchs on the same branch. I watched one fly up to the branch about 11:30. They were still hanging out after 3:00. They were gone by 4:00. These Monarchs were very docile and/or very tired. I was able to capture one by hand as it floated by. Don't know who was more surprised by that: the Monarch or me! They continued to arrive until 5:30. Tagged 35. Temp in low 80's. Moderate winds.
