This rare Rufous Hummingbird has been at our Michigan feeder since September 3, 2025! I decided that I better order heated feeders as it looks like he is staying for the winter. This is the our newest Hummer Hearth heater and have switched to it. It took a few minutes and 2 flybys before landing on the new feeder. We watch him all-day long, from sunrise to dark. All is well now. I would love to hear from anyone who has helped a Rufous survive the winter in the north.
