Robin (First SEEN)

Date: 02/07/1997

Number: 1

We contacted our County Field Naturalist's group, and the President, Mr. Cavin, told us robins will stay in our area if a food source remains. (They particularly like over-ripe apples, apparently.) We asked any students in our wchool who had seen robins in hte past two montsh to let our class know. Kye Atherton, a grade 6 student, say a robin on his crabapple tree. Two students in the grade 4 group have also seen a robin each. (Mr. Morris, the grade 4 teacher, mentioned our project to a computer store clerk in Lindsay; she--the salesperson--had seen one robin in a tree behind her house. So the answer is, there are a VERY few robins that this year have over-wintered in Victoria County, north of Toronto, Ontario.
