We surveyed 230 students at Lady MacKenzie P.S. in Kirkfield. There were 56 students reporting loon sightings over the past week. (The grade 1 teachers thoughtfully excluded the reports of several grade 1s who thought they saw loons perching in trees!) Loons were spotted in in the following locations: Butternut Creek, Balsam Lake, Mitchell Lake, McGuire's Beach (Canal Lake); several of the sightings were not local, but were students on expeditions to Lake Simcoe, west of us, or Long Point to the south.
