Virtually every year the monarchs can be seen in the Jackson, MS area by the last week of March. This year is no exception; I saw my first monarch of the season yesterday (March 25) in Clinton, MS. It was flying very low (about 1 ft above ground) across a city street, but flew away quickly when approached. The milkweeds have already sprouted in this area and we will monitor a few stands for eggs and larvae.
