On Sunday, around 4:15 PM on a cloudy, 78 degree afternoon, I saw my first monarch butterfly this spring. It flew from bluebell to bluebell gathering nectar. It ignored pansies, but did dip its probiscus into some yellow flowers similar to jonquils. The winds were out of the southwest at about 14 mph. Our days have been very warm all week (70's and 80's), but nights have gotten cool. This is exciting. I can't wait to see more of our beautiful friends.
