Easter Vacation almost made us miss our tulips emerging, that and a spring snow storm! First slips apeared last Friday. On Monday, our class counted 37 tulips emerging out of 40 planted. Our squirrel protection worked! The HS Ag class that helped us secure our tulip beds didn't fare as well. They planted tulips in the local park and "Zero" came up. The squirrels enjoyed the bulbs, instead. Daffodills do better in our area. We are about 100 miles south of Ottawa, Canada. Does anyone know about the history of their huge Tulip Festival in mid-May? It began with a gift at the end of WW II.
