This morning while jogging around lake Nokomis is south Minneapolis, I saw my first loon or loons of the season. It was a beautiful clear, cold morning, with a temperature of about 24F. I saw the first loon on the north part of the lake, the second of the east side, and the 3rd on the south side. either the same loon was following my path around the lake or perhaps there were 3 loons traveling together. They were very quite, diving regularly, and following the shoreline. The ice on this lake went out only 5 days ago, and we have had unusually cold weather this past week, with lakes re-freezing along the shoreline. It is always a treat to see that first loon of the season
