Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 04/06/1997

Number: 1

I spotted my first Monarchs of 1997 on April 6th, when 7 of them crusied through the farm. In the past it has been rare to see more than one individual on the first day and often they are scarce through most of April. This year has been noteworthy for multiple sightings here at home as well as around southeastern Illinois. (About 40 miles of Carbondale, SIU). Most of the butterflies I have seen have been in good shape.

I am an avid birder so am out and about every year searching for early arrivals.
