Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 04/19/1997

Number: 1

Austin Reisner a second grade student in my class was excited to report that he saw a monarch. His grandmother was along to verify that it was a monarch that they saw. They watched the monarch for about 3 minutes as it danced around 10 dandelions. Thsy did not see its proboscic come out. Dandelions are very numerous in Illinois durunbg this time of year. The day was sunny and not windy. The wings were dark orange and not torn. Austin thinks it was a female but was moving fairly fast and could not catch it. He was very excited about seeing the monarch.
