I saw the first monarch of the season in Pleasant Hill, Missouri on Saturday, April 19, at 10:30 a.m. It was flying about five feet above the ground, but was headed in a definite Northerly direction. I couldn't tell if it was male or female. Temperature was around 70 degrees with bright sunshine. Pleasant Hill is located approximately 40 miles south and east of Kansas City, MO
