Sunday, April 20 between 9am - noon: migrating monarchs (one every 10 minutes or so) were observed moving north and northwest along the back side of the sand dunes at Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge; and sporadically over fields and roads in adjacent town of Chincoteague. Each one observed appeared faded in color (some looked tattered) indicating that they were not newly emerged butterflies.
