Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 04/21/1997

Number: 1

Monday April 21st was even better with 2 monarchs spotted dancing in the air along 1st street in Avalon around 9:30 AM. Another was spotted along the boardwalk a few minutes later which I missed netting :-( It did look like a female and flew right at me (swing and a miss). It flew into the dunes and after a few minutes it flew south. Another was spotted along 1 st street (flying north) as we headed back to our house to pack. # five for the day landed on the sidewalk at the corner of our house and I chased it across the street and caught on a small bush :-) (No one saw me except family) I brought it back over to our house and removed it from the net to find a dull looking female. It was worn but not in tatters. It sort of looked blotchy from the outside but it felt strong. I placed on my daughter Robin's hand (2 yrs) and it took off. 2 more monarchs were seen for a total of 7 in about 1 1/2 hrs. The clouds returned and all monarch activity halted.
