On April 26, migrating Monarchs were sighted in Gaithersburg, MD and Damascus, MD (both around 20-30 miles northeast of Washington DC). This was the first sighting of the season for the Damascus area. Monarchs were faded in color and were flying due north. Milkweed species in these areas have shoots of only 1-2" tall.
