Tulips BLOOMED

Date: 05/05/1997

Number: 1

All of the tulips in our South gardens died with the cold this Spring. Our first graders' gardens on the souteast side of our building emerged and blossomed. The kindergarteners' tulips are on the southwest side of the building and they have not yet blossomed. Their 12 tulips are are 6 inches tall and almost ready to open. The ground temperature of 52 degrees is less than the ground temperature of the other gardens. We think the two gardens survived because more of the plant was underground than above when the cold weather came. We think the flowers did not emerge as quikly because they were not as close to the building and they didn't get the intense sunlight .
