I generally put out orange halves in mid-April and have had Orioles that early. I did the same this year but did not have any takers. Then Saturday evening I heard the familiar call and there he was in the tree outside my window waiting patiently for his oranges. Needless to say, I cut an orange in two and placed them on the tree. By the next day the oranges were just shells and replacements necessary. Basehor, KS is just south of Leavenworth and due west of Kansas City about 20 miles.
