Mrs. Marchetti's Class News: Leo Karpinski is Mrs. Marchetti's father. He is the class's Monarch supplier. In the fall, he gathered Monarch eggs from the Catskills (NY) and provided many other classes with eggs. We hatched the butterflies and released them from our Butterfly garden It is fitting that Mr. Karpinski sited the first Monarch on May 8,1997 at 1:15PM in Union City, NJ. He reported that the monarch appeared to be weak and flying without too much energy. The day was a bright sunny, windy spring dayin New Jersey.
