Our tulip bulbs froze during our very cold winter. The tulips were planted in large planters, but did not have enough ground cover to insulate the bulbs. We could not put the leaves on top because of the wind; they would have all blown away. We planted the bulbs in planters because it was the only place away from our building we could use. However, we watched for tulips to bloom in our community and the first one we saw bloom was on April 29, l997.
