Hola, Everyone! All last week the weather was miserable. Monday and Tuesday were field trip days. Today, the 30th of April, was a beautiful, light breez, 74 degree day. I decided that my class really needed to get back to our little garden to weed. It was around noon. As we were distinguishing weed from flower, a female Monarch came to the garden! Now, we are talking less than 100 square feet of garden, surrounded by thousands of square feet of lawn. She knew the milkweed was there. She flew around the flowers that are coming up. She found the five stands of milkweed shoots. She would stop and lay an egg and move off, over the few flowers. Down to another set of shoots, then off to the grass to rest. She flew off many times but when she found no other milkweed she returned to the garden. We got to watch her for over an hour. The students were unbelieving, until they looked at the shoots.
