Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 05/19/1997

Number: 1

On Monday May 19th I saw a very faded and battered but lively monarch adult at Point Pelee National Park in Ontario, Canada. A huge fallout of warblers and other migrating birds were first observed in the park that same morning. This fallout extended along the northern coast of Lake Erie from Point Pelee to at least Long Point, Ontario. These events followed the passage of an extensive storm front that started in the Great Plains and rolled east to the Ohio valley on Sunday night/Monday morning (May 18 & 19th) So...was this most likely an overwintering adult from Mexico, or a first generation adult from the southern U.S?
