Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 06/10/1997

Number: 1

Finally, after weeks of anticipation here in South Western Pennsylvania we saw a brightly colored Monarch sailing over the parking lot (looking for thermals?) of a Home Depot Store where we had just purchased nectar plants. Believe it or not, direction is very difficult to determine anywhere in western PA unless it is sunrise or sunset because roads, buildings, hills and all other structures are not oriented in any sort of grid-like pattern.I can't tell you which direction that the monarch was headed.

In addition, we found some eggs two weeks ago (May 28) and are raising 4 beautiful caterpillars.
