Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 06/17/1997

Number: 1

Well, at least *two* have! Bob Anderson saw these two in Forest Glen on June 17.To be a little more specific that happens to be right on the north shore of Lake Huron (the North Channel)This community is one along the milkweed "corridor" that runs east and west From Sault Ste. Marie to Espanola. Now I wish that I could report the same thing for Elliot Lake - but what a difference 20 miles north makes; more importantly, what a difference a lack of milkweed makes! But I can report that *some* of the 2,016,000 seeds scattered and planted last year are now growing - 3/4 of an inch ain't a bad start is it??I've resisted the urge to import my monarchs this year and see what happens when the scent of this stuff drifts southward. I'll let you know if the weed police come visiting ;-)
