Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 06/24/1997

Number: 1

We have confirmed sightings of monarchs in Central Saskatchewan over the past week at the following locations;
Saskatoon vicinity (4 sightings in the past 2 days alone)
Rosthern, SK - ~70 km north of Saskatoon
Blaine Lake - ~120 km north of Saskatoon.
The Blaine Lake sighting resulted in the capture of a small, tattered male, which was brought to my lab yesterday. Too bad there is no milkweed in our region. The nearest reported milkweed in this province is south of Regina in the Weyburn district, about 300 km south of Saskatoon. Dr. Leonard Wassenaar
