Oriole (1st Baltimore)

Date: 05/10/1997

Number: 1

The first day I saw an Oriole was May 10. They were about one week late this year. My neighbor and I always put oranges out for them around May 2. Can't seem to convince them to stay here in our yard, though. We are on the Root River in Racine, WI. We get alot of bird life passing through, but few stay. May is the best month for bird watching here. We have a visiting Indigo Bunting right now and lots of warblers. They will move on in a few weeks. We have three PJM rhododendrons in full bloom and usually get our first hummingbirds at the same time. We indeed had a hummer visiting the blossoms yesterday, May 15.
