Finally a sighting on the upper end of Lake Champlain (NY side). Have sighted 3 monarchs...unable to sex, but all were extremely active and seemed healthy. Also, my daughter said she spotted several at a Montreal amusement park this week (about 50 miles north of us).We are in NY on the NW shore of Lake Champlain at the Quebec border where in empties into the Richeleau River. For the past 3 years we have noticed a decrease in Monarch numbers. Last year we found none during the spring mating season and no larvae. We spotted fewer than a dozen adults during the fall migration. The milkweed seems much healthier this year. We are hoping this will reflect an increase in Monarchs. Kim Gerson
