First Monarch butterfly of the year! At 9:30 A.M.Sunny, mid-80's, wind from SW. Wings brightly colored. Flying above meadow and drinking from foxglove.Then checked milkweed patch by the road - found two small monarch caterpillars and one shed skin. This observation was at my home 20 minutes from school. School is not in session until September.
