Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 06/19/1997

Number: 1

My wife, Jan Pottie, came out to the South Shore of Nova Scotia, arrived on June 13th. It was cloudy and cold the first week she was here. But she remembers seeing the first Monarch (near Port Mouton, N.S.) on June 19th. My daughter and I arrived by car (we drove from Syracuse, NY) on June 22, taking the Bar Harbor-Yarmouth ferry that morning. We saw Monarchs on the highways all the way, including around Yarmouth when we crossed on the 22nd.So I can confirm the first siting in the Port Mouton area on June 19th, 1997. By Jan Pottie.
