Date: 09/05/1997

Number: 1

The third graders in Soldotna, Alaska have noticed that just this week that the leaves on the trees are starting to turn yellow. A few have fallen off. Hunting season has started, and some geese are flying south in V-shaped formations. It is cool in the mornings. One morning it was only 35 degrees! It has been warm in the afternoons; up to 60 degrees or a little warmer. The nights are getting darker earlier. It is completely dark now by 9:00 P.M.
