In a survey of my 63 science students, they reported seeing
approximately 30 monarchs during the day. We are not seeing more than 1-5 at any single sighting. We have 4 healthy and rapid growing caterpillars that we brought in as eggs from the field across from the school. The largest is 16 mm long and is 1.5 mg in mass.
