My second graders are studying the life cycle of the Monarch butterfly. Our school has a butterfly garden in the courtyard. This year we were not able to obtain eggs from the garden, but we do use the milkweed that is growing there to feed our caterpillars. We can sight Monarchs right in our garden, although the sightings are slim this year.Studying the migration of the Monarch will be an interesting extension of our study of its life cycle.
