My husband and I have done natural landscaping on our little half-acre lot along the Root River in Racine, WI. We recently added grey dogwood, high-bush cranberry and amalanchiers, all for the birds. For the last three years, I've been planting host and nectar plants for several butterfly species. This was the best season yet. We also provide sheltered areas, warming rocks and puddling areas for the butterflies. I hope word goes out among the butterflies, and birds too, that our backyard is a safe haven for them!
