We have approx. a tenth of an acre of common milkweed and average 15-40 sucessful larvae/chrysalis/adult emergences each year. We live in Brevard, NC and within 15 air miles is the Blue Ridge Parkway's "Tunnel Gap" advertised as the gap used by migrating monarchs as they travel to & from their seasonal habitats. My husband and I were even married there at the Gap on a beautiful Sept. morning (at sunrise) with lots of monarchs lounging around on goldenrods, joe pye and white snakeroot blossoms. We actively plan and plant for monarchs' needs - milkweed for life and tons of flowers for
nectar.
