Our "unpave the way" site is an old farm that the district purchased three years ago. Last spring our 10th grade bio students experimented with factors which affect the germination of milkweed seeds. We found that seeds rolled in damp paper towels, stored in the refrigerator, not Freezer, sprouted well after 7 months in cold storage. We planted theseeds in trays indoors and transplanted 750 seedlings after 7 weeks. As of September, about 23% have survived the summer.
