Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/02/1997

Number: 1

We know that at least one more butterfly is headed south from York, Nebraska. One of the butterflies in our classroom emerged today. We started to take her outside to release her but she got loose and went straight out our classroom window and landed on the side of the school. We think she had better get moving because we haven't seen another monarch around here for almost a week. We're worried about our other chrysalis because it's turning brown inside instead of black. We're afraid it might have been sprayed with the nectar solution we were putting on the plants in the aviary and the sugar harmed the chrysalis.
