Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/06/1997

Number: 1

Today, as for the last 5 days, we saw a single monarch flying over our
playground as we were out for recess. We are located in the Appalachian
Mountain Range in western North Carolina. We have not seen any multiple
numbers of monarchs, but instead have seen a steady one or two monarchs
per day for the last week. Could it be that these are some meandering butterflies
that are taking their time and enjoying the sights on their way south? Whatever,
it has been exciting each time a monarch has been spotted!
