Took my class out today to enjoy the unseasonably warm fall weather. We spotted a straggler in good health. From what we have studied, it probably won't make it south. Then again, who knows.
The special education teacher in our school raised a monarch in her classroom. It was brought in by a student from the wild. It was released over a week ago. Her husband, an excellent photographer, took some of the most spectacular close-up photos I have ever seen of the monarch. My father was a professional photographer, so I know of what I speak. The detail of the scaled wings is incredible. I have asked his permission to send them on to you. The photos document the process of the monarch exiting into its new form. Outstanding!
