Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/05/1997

Number: 1

Way up here in the Kingston, Ontario region is a small conservation area known as "Parrot Bay". Deep in the forested area is a sun lit field with wild flowers, high grasses and puddles from recent rains. Alone on a blue flower was a diligent monarch that fluttered about gently when he/she spotted my party of 2 adults and a german shepard. She decided we were not a threat and continued her big drink of nectar in the warm afternoon sunlight. Twenty minutes later we passed by her spot again and she was still consuming her favourite sweet juices from the wee blue flower. She had a long road ahead and was certainly filling up for a trip to Mexico.
