I have just heard from a teacher at North Wilkesboro Elementary School that they watched approximately 1,000 monarchs fly overhead in about half an hour. During the next half an hour they only saw 100! The first group of monarchs was spectacular, and the teacher said she wasn't to worried about getting the other kids to come out and watch because there were so many monarchs - she assumed they would be flying in those numbers all day. Look out southern states - they are on the way!
