In Anniston, Alabama, the students at Donoho School are watching for the Monarchs and they report to me each day. We have been seeing a very few Monarchs, usually just one or two at a time, for about two weeks. In fact, we noticed more butterflies about two or three weeks ago, then the numbers seem to decrease. On Oct. 9, two of my students reported seeing about 10 each, which is the most any of us have seen
together. Drew saw more than 10 flying together;
Jonathan also spotted more than 10 together; Mary Beth and Linsay saw 2; Anna reported seeing 3; and Jackson reported 5. Our student teacher, Ms. Harrelson, saw one in Jacksonville, about 15 miles north of Anniston.
