Beardsley is a new school where the science teachers spent time with our local conservation district and "The friends of the praire" group to plan out ideas for our courtyard. Journey north was an integral part of the domesticated garden as our tulip garden was the first planted. Since planting the prairie plants and the bulbs, we hatched praying mantis in the spring, which are currently laying egg sacks for next spring. Monarchs showed up to feed off our milkweed. Many birds showed up to eat from the four feeders and occasionally a mantis or two. The biggest surprise this fall was the unexpected pumpkin patch.
