On a recent sailing trip on the Hudson River about 20 miles north of New York city, I observed many monarchs heading south throughout the day. This steady stream started at about 11:00 a.m. and continued until dark. The northeast has been having above normal daytime temperatures and this may be contributing to the late, slow, but steady stream of migrating monarchs.
