Tulips PLANTED

Date: 10/16/1997

Number: 1

A group of fifty first, fourth and fifth graders worked together to plant 100 bulbs in a garden near the entrance to Geneva Elementary School in Bellingham, WA. This is a well known tulip producing area, but in our immediate vicinity there are no commercial bulb fields. The best known producers are located about twenty miles south of here in the flatlands around the mouth of the Skagit River. In that area a large tourist trade has grown up around the blooming fields of tulips and daffodils. We are looking forward to comparing our garden's results with those of gardens in other areas across the nation.
