sighted 100+ monarchs resting in large black pine tree on figure eight island (barrier island) off southeaster north carolina. same event happened in oct 96. same tree!!! the butterflies seem to prefer this one tree over all the other pines. is this unusual? Also enetertained up to 30 caterpillars on my very beleagured milkweed plants. i am sure these are they only 3 milkweeds on this island. how did they know? i just planted them this year.
