Signs of Fall

Date: 10/27/1997

Number: 1

Cecilton Elementary students participating in this project have noted the following signs of seasonal change.
The Canada geese are flying in the hundreds above our school. They are headed for the pond in back of the school, on the Davis Family form. We also have snow geese, many sightings.
We think some of these birds will travel furthe south to North Carolina, but many stay here.
We live in an area surronded by the Sassafras river, the bohemia river, the Elk river, and the Chesapeake Bay.
The large sightings of the geese began last Monday,October 20.
Our leaves are changing colors on many of our trees. We had our first frost- October 24.
