On May 15, 1997, first graders from Vand;yke Elementary planted a buttefly garden outside their classrooms. The garden faces Trout Lake on the south side of our school A butterfly hibernation box was doanted along with many flowers to attract butterflies. All students brought rocks with their names to form a border. On Oct. 14, 1997, along with our Superior Trout Lake Science Fair, 50 tulip bulbs were added to the garden. It began to snow that afternoon. Vandyke is unique because our school is located on the shore of Trout Lake and we Are a Minnesota school of Excellence and an Environmental learning Center.
