Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 11/25/1997

Number: 1

As unbelievable as this may be for some of you in states that are farther north, one of our second graders, Bobby, spotted a monarch winging its way across our playground. It's most likely the red lantern butterfly (a reference to the Iditarod) to the migration. I wondered where it had taken shelter during our recent cold days, but we were outside for Jumprope for Heart, and I can confirm the sighting. We'll let you know if we see any others.
