We did it before the snow fell! Due to unseasonably warm temps in our area, we were able to plant a small area of yarrow to attract butterflies to our school. Our playground is next to a river with many natural plants growing wild alongside of it. For safety, the students are "fenced in" and forbidden to go near the area. Phase 1 of our project is making our natural habitat more student friendly. Students helped plant flowers that will encourage more butterflies. Their plans include a nature trail, signs, and perhaps extend our few plants into a butterfly garden.
